Paint the Town Red we are planning a spectacular day aimed at raising the profile of The Salvation Army in the Town Hall Gardens on Southport’s famous Lord Street.
Paint the Town Red lasted for five hours from 11 am to 4 pm. It is planned that this five-hour period was be filled with a range of Salvation Army music with a massed bands and choir, and a spectacular children’s event. There will also be a march of witness along Lord Street at a time of the year when large numbers of people with be visiting the town.
As 2015 marks the 150th anniversary of The Salvation Army we want to invite Salvationists and friends living in the North West to share with us in this event and by so doing raise public awareness that we are a Christian church motivated to reach out into the community in order to change lives.
Throughout the day there will be an exhibition featuring the history and heritage of The Salvation Army together with stalls, a children’s tent and activities specifically for them.
The event is taking place Saturday 16th May 2015 on Lord street from 11:00 am.
