Nominations are now being accepted for a major scheme that recognises Sefton residents who make a positive difference to life in their local communities.
Sefton 4 Good and the Mayor of Sefton’s Office are seeking entries for the latest round of their Citizens 4 Good initiative.
Citizens 4 Good is a recognition scheme that aims to highlight the good deeds, kindness and support that local people provide to other members of their community.
Anyone can make a nomination of someone they think deserves to be recognised.
And with 2019 having been designated Sefton’s Year of Friendship, organisers are particularly keen to encourage people to nominate residents who have been outstanding friends and neighbours.
Mike Howlett, Senior Citizenship and Volunteering Officer for Sefton CVS, commented: “Since launching the scheme in 2017, Citizens 4 Good has recognised 55 people for their kind acts and support for their local communities.
“The quality of the nominations has been very high, and we’re expecting more of the same with the latest round of the scheme.”
Shortlisted nominees will be invited to a celebration event where they will be presented with a certificate by the Mayor of Sefton, Cllr Dave Robinson.
This will be the final Citizens 4 Good event attended by Cllr Robinson in his mayoral capacity, as his term of office ends later this year.
“I was very happy to help launch the Citizens 4 Good initiative back in 2017,” said Cllr Robinson “It has been a great opportunity to recognise local people for the good they do in the community.”
The deadline for nominations is Monday 11th March, with the celebration event taking place on Monday 25th March from 5pm at a venue in Bootle.
