Churchtown petrol station closed after suspected robbery

Forensic police officers are combing through a Churchtown petrol station after a suspected early morning robbery.

The Tesco Express on Preston New Road is expected to remain closed throughout Monday as officers carry out an investigation.

Detectives were called to the busy petrol station before 7am this morning.

It’s understood overnight the store was targeted by thieves.

Police have yet to confirm if the theft was successful or if they made off empty handed.
