Churchtown library to open Jean Alexander reading room.

A library group from Churchtown are to open a special reading room dedicated to Jean Alexander.

The group say they will incorporate the space in their proposals for the Botanic Garden based ‘Library In the Gardens’ scheme.

A spokesperson for the North Meols Library Association said:

“Our project for The Library in the Gardens is progressing well despite our failure to secure a lottery grant, everything is close to being in place but is dependant upon us raising the funding.

“We are working on Plan B which involves inviting tenders for the works to bring the pavilion up to current standards.

“Our plans for the building includes a central library space along with two meeting rooms on either side, one of which we intend to name ‘The Jean Alexander Reading Room'”
