Christmas tributes have been paid to a heroic Southport nurse who sadly passed away earlier this year from coronavirus.
Josephine Masteke (Manini), also known as Josephine Peter, died on April 18 at Southport and Formby District General Hospital after testing positive for Covid-19.
She had been working at Southport on an agency contract since February and had been a nurse for 20 years. She was married with two children.
Josephine is one of at least 207 frontline health and care workers have been identified after dying with coronavirus.
Thousands of residents paid tribute to Josephine earlier this year following her passing and she has once again been remembered at Christmastine as the NHS revealed a touching tribute to the 207 frontline healthcare workers who have sadly passed away while fighting COVID-19.
One of Josephine’s colleagues wrote to OTS News this week to say “Josephine and her family will be the first thought in my mind on Christmas morning.
“She was a lovely and beautiful soul who made a lasting impression on everyone she met and was never without a smile on her beautiful face.
“Merry Christmas Josephine, we love you.”
