A heartless Tory candidate says people using foodbanks should get better at managing their budget
Many voters are saying today that yet again the Tory Party has shown its true colours, as another candidate insults thousands of desperate people struggling to find food under the hated Universal Credit scheme that’s so beloved of the current government.
Above: out – of – touch Tory, Darren Henry, has been compared to Scrooge after his controversial remarks.
Smug Tory Darren Henry, who is running to be the MP for Broxtowe in Nottinghamshire, said those who are forced to rely on charitable causes should become more financially savvy. The cold-hearted candidate told voters on Friday night: “When they go down to the food bank, what they struggle with is maybe being able to manage their budget.”
Former Tory minister Anna Soubry, who is seeking re-election as an Independent Group for Change candidate in the seat she has held since 2010, said: “He’s utterly clueless and lacks the understanding and compassion to be an MP.
This latest insult to the poor comes days after another callous Conservative candidate told voters that disabled people and those with learning disabilities should be paid less than the minimum wage because some “don’t understand money”.
