Detectives in Sefton are appealing for information following a robbery in Bootle last night (Thursday, 3 November).
At around 10pm, two men entered SD News on Marsh Lane, both carrying what were thought to be handguns. They threatened a staff member before stealing a quantity of cash and making off on foot.
The staff member was uninjured but left distressed by his ordeal.
The offenders were described only as white, in their mid-20s, both wearing dark coloured clothing with their faces covered and caps.
Enquiries are on-going CCTV is being examined from the shop and surrounding areas and the scene has been forensically examined.
Detective Inspector Mike Dalton said: “Robberies such as this are not victimless crimes and while the shopkeeper was uninjured, this must have been a very distressing ordeal for him.
“I’d ask anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident to get in contact – maybe you saw two men in the area acting suspiciously or running away from the scene? Any information could assist with our enquiries.”
Detectives are appealing for anyone who has any information about this incident to contact Sefton CID on 0151 777 3807 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
