CCTV Appeal | Man threatened with knife at Birkdale Station

21st December 2017

Do you recognise this teenager?

We’d like to speak to him in connection with an incident at Birkdale station, in which a man was threatened with a kitchen knife.

The victim – a 19-year-old man – was walking through the station underpass at around 11.15pm on 1 December.

He was verbally abused by a group of teenagers and when he responded, a boy pulled a knife out and threatened him.

People nearby were alerted by the commotion and the offender ran off.

Inspector Jamie Lewis said: “Thankfully incidents involving weapons on the rail network are rare. This was a traumatic ordeal for the victim and so we are working tirelessly to locate those involved and bring the offender to justice.

“We believe some people may have filmed the incident on their phones. If that was you, or if you’ve been shown this footage, please get in touch.

“We know this CCTV image might not be the clearest image, but if you think you know who this boy is, please let us know.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police by calling 0800 40 50 40 or texting 61016, with reference 738 of 1 December.
