CCTV appeal following assault in Liverpool city centre
Detectives have issued a CCTV image following reports of an assault in Liverpool city centre in April.
At around 4am on Easter Sunday, 16th April, a man was socialising with friends on Seel Street, Liverpool city centre. He became involved in an argument with a group of men. One of the group punched the man, causing him to fall backwards, striking his head on the pavement.
The assault caused the victim to suffer a fractured skull.
A CCTV image has been released in a bid to trace a man detectives believe may have information which could assist with the investigation.
Detective Inspector Phil Mahon said: “We know the street would have been busy at the time of the incident with people about to make their way home after a night out in the city.
“We believe that a number of people would have seen the incident and may have vital information which could help us to progress our investigation. I’m also sure if you witnessed this assault you would remember it. Any information, no matter how small could assist us in identifying the man responsible.
“We are particularly keen to speak to the man pictured and would urge him to come forward. Similarly, if you recognise him we want to hear from you.
“I would also like to reassure members of the public that Liverpool is a safe place to live, visit and socialise and we are committed to tracing anyone who commits offences in Merseyside so that they can be brought to justice.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Merseyside Police on 0151 777 4065 or the Crimestoppers line anonymously on 0800 555 111.
