We have issued a CCTV image of a man we believe could assist an investigation into an assault in Liverpool city centre last month.
A report was received at around 4.30am on Thursday 25 April outside Heaven nightclub on Victoria Street that a 50-year-old woman had been punched in the face by a man, knocking her to the floor.
The victim was treated in hospital for severe swelling and bruising to her face, and was left very shaken by the incident.
CCTV from nearby bars and streets was recovered and the scene was forensically examined.
Detective Inspector Judith Blease said: “This is particularly busy part of our city and at this time we’d imagine that lots of people would be leaving bars to head home for the night to get taxi and would have witnessed this assault.
“I’d ask anyone who was in this area and may have witnessed this incident to get in contact.
“A woman was left extremely shaken up by this incident and the person responsible needs to be brought to justice.
“We believe the man pictured could hold vital information about this assault and ask anyone who recognises him to come forward and tell us who he is.”
