Casino building gutted by contractors following closure

Contractors have begun gutting the former Genting Casino building on the promenade.

Casino bosses announced last month the Southport casino, part of a multi national chain, would close down permanently having been majorly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.

Bosses sent texts to members to say that while the site would close, others including Liverpool would likely remain open and membership will be transferred online where the business continues.

This week contractors have been called in to remove signage from the front of the building while chairs, tables and gambling paraphernalia were piled up at the front doors of the site.
