Coke grafter who made £1,000,000 is told to pay back just £2k
Ian Rowley, 40, of Hornby Road, Orrell Park, was part of a group jailed for a total of 106 years over a £9 million drugs conspiracy. But while Rowley has just been jailed for 12 years and eight months after admitting conspiracy to supply Class A drugs, he will have to pay back only £2,000 out of his personal known £1 million haul. Liverpool Crown Court heard tht Rowley benfited to the tune of £1,035,915, but his stated available assets amounted to only £2,185 in cash so that is all the court has legally been able to seize to date.
However, state prosecutors are now able to apply to re-determine Rowley’s available assets if they find any – and to demand more cash at a later stage.
The Liverpool Crown Court heard that Rowley’s group were responsible for supplying hundreds of kilos of Class A drugs throughout England, Wales and Scotland. Analysis of their files revealed they moved drugs with a street value in excess of £9 million between January and July that year. Officers seized a £1.4 million stash including around 9kg of cocaine, 7kg of unadulterated heroin, 10,000 MDMA pills and 11,000 diazepam tablets -s well as some £200,000 in cash.
