Cash machine raided in Southport Market

Raiders have stolen the contents of a cash machine inside Southport market.

The machine at the back of the market was broken into overnight and the entire contents, thought to be in the thousands, was taken away.

A safety mechanism designed to destroy the cash has exploded leaving powder all over the floor.

Police are now investigating and market bosses are concerned the job may have been carried out with insider knowledge.
