Cars collide head on in Birkdale village smash

Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a serious crash in Birkdale Village, Sunday 3 May.

Police have closed off Weld Road and Liverpool Road around the centre of Birkdale village after two cars collided near to Birkdale train station.

Paramedics were also called to the scene to treat both drivers for injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is now underway and officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch with Merseyside Police on 101.
