Car smashes through wall on Birch Street, Southport

Heavy rain has caused a traffic collision on Birch Street after a silver ford spun out of control and smashed into a wall on Birch Street, Tuesday 4 June 2019.

Eye witnesses report the driver of the silver ford was travelling at speed among the residential road and fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

Fire crews were called to make the scene safe and remove the debris.

Police were also called to close off the road. One other road user was treated for minor whiplash at the scene.

The road remains closed while an investigation into the crash continues. Witnesses should call 101.
