A road-traffic collision between a car and a HGV tanker has prompted the closure of a section of Cemetery Road this afternoon.
The incident occurred at the junction of Portland Street and Cemetery Road.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene at approximately 11:15 am this morning. Both police and paramedics continue to remain on site, addressing the situation.
Cemetery Road is still closed to traffic between Portland Street and Southbank Road. This closure is in place while the incident is being cleared up and managed.
Motorists are strongly advised to steer clear of the area for the time being.
The incident took place near the Texaco petrol station, a junction notorious for its history of regular accidents and crashes.
At this time, the extent of injuries to passengers involved in the collision remains unknown.
