Car crashes into bus shelter in Churchtown

Police are investigating how a motorist leaving the car park of a Churchtown pub this morning managed to crash into a bus stop.

The dark blue people carrier was leaving the car park of the Hesketh Arms when it smashed into a bus stop on the opposite side of the road.

Police were immediately called to the scene along with paramedics who treated the Male driver for shock.

Officers are looking into the possibility that he may have hit the wrong pedal and sped out of control rather than turning into the road.
