A Southport councillor says he has never seen a worse state of the infamous Knob Hall Lane road surface.
Cllr Mike Sammon says he wants Sefton Council’s Highways team to ‘show compassion’ and help residents of the unadopted road to fix the state of the carriageway.
He said “Been delivering Knob Hall Lane area and I’m sorry to see the road surface looking worse than ever. I think this is a pretty unique case in that it is an unadopted road with adopted roads off it – you have to drive down Knob Hall Lane to get to them.
“Newer houses in these cul-de-sacs then increased traffic down the unadopted Knob Hall Lane so it is an issue with a long and complex history.
“I am not disputing the Council’s legal position but clearly this is a unique case and I believe the Council used to maintain it to a “keep safe” standard, which they no longer do and this could be dangerous for emergency service vehicles.
“I think it really is time for some compassion from the Council and the Government to assist the residents in coming up with a solution because this simply can’t go on for much longer.”
