Bypass traffic nightmare set to continue until next week

Roadworks on the Formby bypass brought traffic to a standstill earlier today.

Frustrated drivers trying to get into Southport were stuck in standing traffic after roadworks were put in place this morning.

Sefton Council list two separate sets of roadworks due on Formby Bypass over the next several weeks.

The closure of one lane on the northbound carriage caused problems earlier today and is set to reopen next Tues 9 August, with street lights being repaired.

Additionally, one lane is also due to be closed on the southbound carriage today until 1 September for telecoms work.

Both sets of work are scheduled for the A565 between Ainsdale and Freshfield.

To compound matters, delays are also likely on the Coastal Road, from Shore Road to Pinfold Lane, with resurfacing work due to take place until 12 August.
