Busy road shut after car smash leads to oil leak

Police have closed off a busy road in Southport after a two car smash this evening.

The impact of the collision caused a suspected oil leak on Manchester Road near to the Sahara takeaway.

Police have shut the road between Hawkshead Street and Leyland Road while recovery vehicles are called.

The Sahara takeaway remains open.

One car, a silver saloon, was completely written off in the collision after being hit side on.

Witnesses are currently being sought and anyone who saw the incident are being asked to call 101.
