A local businesswoman is wearing 25 different Christmas jumpers over 25 days to raise money for charity!
Natalie Porter is the Sales and Marketing Manager at Porters Fuchsias and Happy Plants on Southport Old Road in Formby, which are owned by the Porter family.
Throughout the last few days she has been wearing the good, the bad and the itchy, all in the name of charity.
She is urging people to help her to raise money for Greenfingers, a national charity dedicated to supporting life-limited children and their families who spend time in hospices around the UK, and Perennial, a charity which helps people in the horticulture industry.
A number of national businesses have signed up to sponsor each one of Natalie’s Christmas jumper days while kind-hearted people have been donating through her fundraising page.
She has collected her eclectic mix of Christmas jumpers over the years, mainly from the Southport Lifeboat charity shop on Everton Road in Birkdale.
They truly are a sight to behold and include themes such as Star Wars, squirrels, the Coca Cola truck, polar bears, an Australian theme and many more.
Natalie gives daily updates on her fabulously festive jumpers through social media.
She said: “I have been wearing a different jumper every day for advent in aid of two charities – one is our industry’s benevolent fund, the other builds gardens for children’s hospices.
“The response has been brilliant. People have been saying it’s made them smile every day and that it’s put the fun into fundraising.
“I am just trying to add a bit of light relief after such a stressful year.
“The charities I am raising for have been hit hard this year – both in terms of the demand for their resources and the shortfall in their fundraising.”
So far Natalie has raised over £2,000 for the two charities, thanks to over 50 wellwishers, some leaving lovely comments on her fundraising page.
One person who donated, Vicky Nuttall wrote: “Well done Nat! I’m looking forward to seeing all your different Christmas jumpers. Can one person really have that many?”
