A 32,000 sq ft leisure space to be operated by play operator Fun Arena, along with seven industrial units, are to be built next to Burscough Industrial Estate after the plans were given the go-ahead.
Working on behalf of developer Crompton Property, planner Lichfields has secured consent for two applications on the site, which is part of the wider Yew Tree Farm development.
The largest unit will be operated by Fun Arena and will feature a range of soft play attractions along with 100 car parking spaces; this was put forward as a separate full planning application.
Crompton also secured reserved matters consent for seven industrial and logistics units, ranging between 5,300 sq ft to 15,000 sq ft. In total, the scheme comprises more than 100,000 sq ft.
Access to the development will be via a new road from the recently-constructed roundabout on Tollgate Road.
Planning applications for the site were brought forward in May this year and were approved by West Lancashire Council’s planning committee last night; construction work is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
Outline consent for the land also includes 580 homes, a care home, a community centre, and parkland; NLP Planning and IBI advised on the original application. Redrow is already on site building the first phase of the housing.
