A french-themed restaurant chain is set to open in Southport this spring.
OTSNews.co.uk revealed in November that ‘Bistrot Pierre’ had struck a deal to take over the former Russell and Bromley building on Lord Street. The chain will be opening in next few months.
Cllr David Barton said: “I am delighted to see this empty unit at the centre of Lord Street being brought back into use.
“Having consulted with CBRE, the commercial agents acting for the site, I am also pleased to report that work will be starting soon to restore its overhead Verandahs, which will be greatly appreciated by the local community and will hopefully encourage more investors to choose our Classic Resort town.
“This flagship site should serve as another template for the remaining units along the central cross-section of Lord Street and encourage businesses to join the exciting Verandah conservation campaign, which has already let to investment in many long vacant units along the length of the high street.
I should like to thank the team at Bistrot Pierre and CBRE for all their continuing good work to improve the town.”
Originally named Pierre Victoire, the chain was founded in 1994 in Nottingham by businessmen Robert Beacham and John Whitehead and rebranded as Bistrot Pierre in 1998.
Since then the duo have steadily expanded their business, initially in the Midlands and the most recent restaurant – in Altrincham – launched on Friday, December 2 2016.
CBRE UK Property Management has confirmed that an offer has been made for the building to be leased for ten years, but remained tightlipped about who has made the bid.
