BT fraudsters are targeting vulnerable pensioners

Care home chiefs are warning people in Southport of a scam targeting vulnerable elderly people.

Recently a resident at the Hollies rest home received a phone call claiming to be BT advising that they were going to be cut off as their bill had not been made so please can they make a payment to prevent this happening.

This happened Thursday & Friday morning (26th & 27th sept) at 8.30am.

staff there said “Luckily the 98 year old resident was dubious and had heard of such calls and came to the staff who re-assured them it most definitely was a scam call. So thankfully nothing happened.

“The next person might not be so lucky.”
