Brexit backing readers call on politicians to show support
OTS News readers say they are backing a harsh Brexit to give Southport what it wants.
Readers have flooded OTS News with emails and letters asking for local politicians to scrap any proposals for a second referendum.
One said: “One thing that will certainly never happen is for the UK to get a ‘good’ deal as that would encourage several other countries to become independent once again and to have referendums of their own.
It would only take one other large contributor to the EU, for example France or Germany, to leave and the entire organisation would collapse.
The EU is not, and never will be, democratic, and the UK is known as ‘Treasure Island’ within the EU.
I am far from happy with Sefton Council who have already proven themselves to be undemocratic by having a second referendum some years ago on the future of council houses when the result of the first one was not the one they wanted.
I am absolutely appalled by the way the EU has treated this country for decades and would be distraught if a second referendum resulted in us staying and become the laughing stock of the world and the recipient of many more unwelcome changes detrimental to our way of life.
How would we then be able to refuse to change our currency to the Euro, for example?
How could we stop unregulated immigration and the increasing effects this is having on us?
Would we still have a British army?
The opportunities following Brexit are immense and this country excels at grabbing them. We are held back by the EU.”
