Brenda bags top gong at Merseyside Woman awards

29th June 2019

An Ainsdale woman who is well known for her work to improve the village and the surrounding area has won a lifetime achievement award.

Brenda Porter, Ex councillor and local volunteer, has been given a coveted Lifetime Achievement Award at the Merseyside Woman of The Year awards for her work in trying to make Southport and Ainsdale a better place.

Former Tory councillor Brenda Porter, 80, has been described by the awards’ organisers, as ‘a tireless Champion of the Community in Ainsdale’.

Her impact is far-reaching. Brenda has not let much get in her way but her age and gender have meant that she has always had to work harder to prove herself.

The grandmother of six is the Chairperson of Ainsdale in Bloom, Ainsdale Community Wildlife Trust and of the Friends of Revitalise Sandpipers, a community group whose support enables the Southport centre to provide life-enhancing respite holidays for disabled people and carers.
