Boxing Day evening shattered as car careers through quiet street

The emergency services are currently dealing with a multiple vehicle collision on Lytham Road in Southport, Thursday 26 December 2019.

Police are investigating a serious collision between a number of cars on a quiet suburban street.

At least one car, a silver hatchback is through to have lost control on a slippy and wet surface on Lytham Road in Southport this evening shortly after 9pm.

Witnesses at the scene have told our reporter that a male driver was detained by a member or the public trying to escape the scene.

Three cars have been severely damaged and one has been written off following the incident.

Police have closed off the road and an investigation is now underway to determine the cause of the crash.
