A 45-year-old Bootle man was arrested following a burglary at a Boots chemist in Formby.
Officers were called to the chemist after reports a man had forced entry to Boots on Chapel Lane at about 11.30pm on Tuesday, July 21.
Police saw a man fleeing on foot from the store.
The man was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit burglary. He remains in custody.
A number of electrical items and medication taken from the chemist have been recovered.
Formby Neighbourhood Inspector Jim Atherton said:
“Fortunately there was nobody in the chemist at the time, but significant damage was caused to the premises which will take time and money to repair.
“Thanks to information provided by the public and prompt attendance at the scene by my officers, we were able to arrest a man and recover the property that was taken in the burglary.
“Their swift action has prevented those prescription drugs, which could have been dangerous if taken by someone they had not been prescribed for, from getting into the wrong hands.”
Anyone with information has been asked to call officers on the 101 number or contact Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
