Birkdale set to burst with wine bars as deli sets to open

Wine bar & delicatessen on the menu for Birkdale Village

Work has finally begun on yet another wine bar in Birkdale Village.

Locals are now close to tearing their hair out after plans were revealed last year to close down the former Santander bank and replace it with another wine bar.

Birkdale Village already boasts some of the best bars in Southport and owners of nearby bars are not in need of the competition.

Contractors are now on site gutting out the building and putting in fixtures and fittings to transform the building.

Applicant Charles Furnell applied to change the use of the ground floor of the former Santander bank and alter the front and side elevations of the Liverpool Road building.
