What would you like to see move into latest empty building on Chapel Street?

last year BHS shut its doors for the last time, and an icon of the high street was gone forever.

As we start the new year Chapel Street has another gaping hole, after another local favourite, BHS, also closed.

With one of the biggest units on our towns pedestianised shopping street empty has left many people asking – what could fill the space?

GCW, the property firm responsible for the site, has the unit listed online for a rental price of £150,000 per year, down from £215,000 when it was first listed in November. Whoever takes over the store will also have to pay annual business rates of £265,000 (£5,417 per month).

2. Burger King

Could this be the site they have waiting all these years to find?

3. Waitrose

What a great store they opened on Tulketh Street.

When Sefton Council decided to pedestrianise Chapel Street, the firm decided to leave Southport – for Formby.
