A dementia health nurse from Southport is hosting a number of events and charity runs to raise money for Dementia UK.
Helen Green and her friend Jayne Telford want to raise £700 for Dementia UK by hosting charity quiz nights and fun runs.
On Friday 16th August the pair are hosting a charity quiz night at the Fleetwood Hesketh club with tickets just £8 each.
Later on in the year the pair will also take on the Great North Run for the charity.
Helen said “I work for the charity Dementia UK. I am an admiral nurse which is a specialist dementia nurse who supports families where someone has a diagnosis of dementia. There are currently no admiral nurses in Southport and so my role is on the freephone helpline the charity hosts.”
“We both believe every family deserves this specialist support and want to raise
awareness of the charity and the availability of Admiral Nurses.
Through our shared weight loss of over 11 stone and a new found passion for running, we have discovered an enjoyable way to raise funds and stay healthy.
As we are aware that keeping active can greatly reduce the risk of developing dementia.”
