Beales bosses have destroyed the hopes of hundreds of employees in Southport after backtracking on the news their store would stay open.
The Lord Street department store will shut down despite just weeks ago bosses announcing it would be safe from the axe.
Last night administrator KPMG said it had received no “deliverable” offers to buy the 139-year-old business, and so preparations have begun to close the remaining shops, which includes Southport.
The store is likely to shut for the final time at the end of April.
