Safety signage should be erected around Southport’s coastal marshes to warn people of the possible dangers of venturing out there.
The call follows the tragic death of Adam Seaton, the student who went missing after it is believed he visited the marshlands to do some geography field work for his Edge Hill University course.
The search for missing Adam came to a heartbreaking end following the discovery of a body in the Ribble Estuary last month. He disappeared on August 9, 2018 and the search centred on the Sefton coastline after his car was left parked at Marshside RSPB Nature Reserve.
But despite the efforts of teams of local volunteers, police search units and the RNLI, extensive searches of the marshland failed to locate him until his body was spotted by a dog walker some months later in the estuary.
In the wake of the tragedy calls have been made for more prominent signs to be installed around the marshes warning of potential dangers.
