Battle of the bikes as Legion fundraisers smash target

A team of intrepid cyclists from the Southport Hesketh Round Table have triumphed in their challenge to cycle all the way to the National Memorial Arboretum in Belgium.

Raising money for the Royal British Legion, the sandgrounder cyclists rode 100 miles to mark 100 years since the Battle of Passchendaele.
They managed to achieve their goal and cycle to the Memorial on September 25.

Hundreds of OTS readers donated to the cyclists campaign , helping them smash a target and eventually raise £1900 for the charity. The ride was especially poignant for chairman Dean Wilson who recently discovered his grandfather fought in and survived the battle - as well as fighting in the Somme
