A long awaited Lord street chippy is finally opening.
Workers are busy fitting out the Kings Plaice on Lord Street with a view to opening its doors in the coming weeks.
The refurb is now three years overdue after the fast food store was tipped to open in 2016 but never reached completion.
OTS News has been sent photos showing workers inside the chipshop and cafe this evening.
It’s thought it will open to customers in mid February.
What’s the catch? Chip shop owners stall in bid to launch restaurant
Business owners along a stretch of Lord Street in Southport think there’s something fishy over an as yet unopened chip shop. The Kings Plaice, near to Debenhams, was due to open in July after the former City Look clothing store was seemingly transformed overnight into a fish and chip shop.
However months later nothing has happened. With only the signage and new exterior to show any change to what was a derelict unit.
It’s understood the owners of the chip shop may not have applied for planning permission before starting their new venture, meaning they’ve had to have their dream catch put on hold until they are allowed permission by the council to open.
If successful the Kings Plaice will be only the second ever fish and chip shop to open on the main Lord Street strip.
