A prolific heritage campaigner from Southport believes he holds the secret to a regeneration revolution within his hometown.
David Barton, an ex Councillor for the Town Centre and West Birkdale, says his plan has been successful in obtaining both public and private sector partnerships.
As a result of this, he believes he has played a starring role in a series of mass-scale, individual and collaborative successes that “encapsulate Southport’s civic heritage.”
Mr Barton says he believes that if his progressive approach is adopted by others in Southport, as well as across the UK, it may lead to a greater overall realisation of the town’s unique selling points in the 21st century.
The community campaigner, whose ultimate focus has been and remains the restoration of Southport and the reclamation of its ‘Classic Resort’ epithet, believes that by operating on a strict basis of mutual respect and sincerity, many everyday challenges that are usually encountered can be avoided by adopting a simple set of core values.
Mr Barton said: “To date, I have ventured on a 6 year quest to restore and regenerate Southport by utilising all resources and commodities available but at all times I have strived to be the paradigm of good diplomacy.”
