A woman has been jailed for stabbing and injuring her partner with a fork following a ‘bit of banter’ in Birkdale earlier this year.

Rachel Edwards (35) appeared by video link at Sefton Magistrates Court from HMP Styal where she is serving a two year prison sentence for wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH) and wounding with GBH.

She pleaded guilty to assaulting a person and occasioning actual bodily harm at Lincoln Road, Birkdale in February.

The victim was stabbed twice with a fork to the neck and chin.

Edwards told police that there had been a bit of banter which developed into an argument.

Magistrates sentenced her to four months imprisonment, concurrent to the sentence she is already serving and ordered that she pay £150 in compensation.
