Care home residents in Banks were thrilled to be visited by authors to celebrate National Storytelling Week.

The staff and residents at Sutton Grange Care Home on Greaves Hall Avenue were paid a visit by the People’s Poet of Liverpool, Tony O’Neill, who is the home’s Poet In Residence, regularly visiting members of their Writing Club.

He kick-started the week with humorous observations of everyday life, followed by novelist, Awen Thornber who read from her latest book, Foxtrot In Freshby (blending Freshfield and Formby to create one area) and talked about her life as a writer and the literary influences of Freshfield and Formby.

Christina May from the home said:

“Everyone was delighted with the visits from the authors.”
