Bank machines destroyed in alleged botched heist

14th May 2019

Vandals have struck two town centre banks over night in an apparent failed robbery attempt.

Two cash machines at Barclays and The Royal Bank Of Scotland on Lord Street were severely damaged with components ripped out from their fixtures and screens smashed.

Police are now investigating the possibility that this was a botched robbery attempt gone wrong although they won’t rule out a general act of wanton vandalism.

Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 immediately.
