A would be runner had to pull out of the mad dog 10k this weekend after narrowly surviving a horrific car crash.
Alex Wilson was due to take part in the Southport run but just hours before hit a patch of ice while travelling to the race and totalled her car.
Luckily she escaped without serious injury and joked later on that she would have to defer her entry until next year.
The avid runner will now be allowed to enter for free next year by race organisers.
