People who attend a Southport day service for adults are putting local residents in the picture about their lives at a new exhibition at a prestigious venue in the town.
Artwork from regulars at the North Hub on Mornington Road is currently on show at Southport Library, part of the wider Atkinson arts centre complex.
The North Hub is run by New Directions, one of Sefton’s leading adult social care providers, and as part of the wide-ranging brief for the project the talented artists were invited to produce artwork reflecting the organisation’s core values.
As a result, a number of the pieces highlight empathy, kindness, reliability, trust and the importance of teamwork.
Meanwhile, other people who attend the service adopted a more subjective approach to their work, producing pieces with images and symbols that reflect their own individual lives.
Other artists opted to focus on an even broader canvas, and were inspired to develop pieces incorporating graphical references to their own likes and preferences.
The resulting exhibition features a wide variety of subject matter and approaches which demonstrate the quality of the work that is being produced at the regular North Hub art sessions.
North Hub Support Worker, Simon Jackson commented: “Thanks to the range and quality of the pieces on view I am very pleased with this exhibition. It is a great credit to our artists that they are producing work of such a high calibre.”
North Hub Manager, Paula Scott, added: ““The people who attend the centre produce some consistently excellent artwork and everyone here is delighted that this exhibition is bringing it to a much wider audience.”
The exhibition continues until Saturday 21st March.
