Heroic army units drafted in to help lead the first bout of mass testing in Liverpool have been forced to camp at the shockingly poor Pontins resort in Ainsdale.
Infamous for its thousands of poor reviews, issues over cleanliness and hundreds of complaints every year, the Pontins site on Shore Road in Ainsdale will now play host to the army personnel who will work throughout the coming months to help deliver life saving coronavirus testing to Liverpool.
Pam Cowburn said on Twitter: “As a former employee of Pontins Ainsdale, thoughts and prayers for these brave soldiers”
Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said: “We will be deploying 2000 talented Armed Forces personnel to, once again, rise to the challenges posed by COVID-19 to ensure we go above and beyond for the Liverpool community – we will have your backs throughout the trial.
“This first deployment of whole city testing in Liverpool is a really important step forward and is thanks to the big increase in testing capacity and our investment in new testing technologies.”
