Armed police respond to report of man carrying a gun in Southport

Merseyside Armed police and air support responded to report of a male carrying a gun on Lord Street, Southport this afternoon, Monday 1 August 2016.

After searching and questioning two males they were released.

A local said: “Someone had mistaken one of the men for carrying a gun and called 999.  It turned out that it was actually a baseball cap he was putting back into his pocket and not a gun!”
