Armed forces parade set for SOUTHPORT
Members of the oldest national military charity are holding a parade in Southport to mark Armed Forces Day on Sunday, July 1.
The Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Families Association (SSAFA) was founded in 1885 by Major James Gildea and provides lifelong support to anyone who is currently serving or has ever served in the Royal Navy, British Army or the Royal Air Force.
Staff and members of the SSAFA Merseyside branch based at RAF Woodvale and veterans are holding the parade and an event to mark Armed Forces Day at the Town Hall Gardens.
The event starts off at 10am with a Drumhead service, then the parade will start at 10:30 from Chapel Street whilst in the Gardens there will be live vintage music, members of the WW2 Living History group and military vehicles.
