Coronavirus – Recruitment process
With COVID-19 at the forefront of everyone’s minds, we wanted to take this time to provide you with an update on Merseyside Police’s current position for the continuation of our recruitment processes.
Welcoming the future workforce to keep Merseyside safe remains as important as ever and we continue to welcome applications for our many career pathways. However due to the restrictions in place due to the Coronavirus, we are having to postpone our SEARCH assessment centres dates. This decision to delay the recruitment process has been taken in the interests of public health and the potential consequences for UK policing.
The College of Policing are currently working on ways in which to deliver the Search Assessment Centres to enable the safe continuation of recruitment, further information will be available in due course.
We will continue to sift applications and if you are successful you will be placed on the list for a place on the Search Assessment Centre.
We look forward to receiving your application and wish you all the very best in your process.
Nothing beats a career here.
Our Police Constables are our face and voice in the community. They’re on the ground, speaking to victims, preventing crime and making a real difference. They come from different walks of life, but are united by the same goal – to keep communities safe.
Now we’re looking for more Police Constables to join us. We’re looking for people who reflect the communities we serve, people who can bring diversity of experience, people who are willing to protect our streets. It’s not always easy, some days will be tougher than others, but the sense of pride makes it worth every second.
There’s never been a better time to join. We’re the nation’s best performing big city force with one of the highest starting salaries of £24,177. As of 2020, we’re making policing a graduate profession, so you’ll earn a degree or graduate diploma on the job.
You won’t just be building better communities, you’ll be building a career that counts. From intelligence to armed policing, whatever your background, wherever you want to take your career, however you want to specialise, we’ll help you find your beat.
We are keen to increase our diversity and if you have a protected characteristic please visit our Positive Action team page.
Within Merseyside Police, the following groups are under represented.
Females (police officer roles only)
Ethnic minorities
Disabled (if you have a disability which would still allow you to fulfill the role)
Gay/lesbian/bisexual
Transgender
Minority religions, e.g. Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Sikh
Earn while you learn
We’re introducing new training for all our recruits. From 2020, you’ll earn a degree or graduate diploma through the Police Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF), all while you’re earning and learning on the job. The PEQF won’t just prepare you for the job in hand, it’ll give you invaluable skills and externally-recognised qualifications that’ll help you beyond policing. This will play an important part in helping tackle a range of issues, specifically those in the modern age of digital investigations, cybercrime and counter terrorism.
There will be two new entry routes into Merseyside Police starting in 2020, with a third entry route available from 2022 for those who have completed a Degree in Professional Policing.
We are now accepting applications for PEQF but if you would like to get in touch with anyone in our recruitment team before then email careers@merseyside.police.uk
