Appeal after motorist attacked with bats by four men in Southport

Merseyside Police is appealing for information following a robbery in Southport on Saturday (16 December 2017).

A report was received at around 7.10pm that four males wearing black were hitting an occupied white Ford Fiesta car on Southbank Road with bats, before running away along Westmoreland Road.

It was reported a 29-year-old man was assaulted and a quantity of cash taken. He sustained a cut to the face during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A 46-year-old woman inside the car sustained cuts to the face when a window was smashed. She was treated at the scene by paramedics.

A forensic examination of the scene and car has taken place, and CCTV opportunities are being explored. Witnesses are being spoken to a house to house enquiries being carried.
