Police are appealing for information after an armed robbery in Vauxhall earlier this evening (Sunday 16 June 2019).
At around 5.25pm, a call was received reporting a man holding what appeared to be a shotgun had demanded staff hand over cash at McDonalds on Jennifer Avenue, off Scotland Road.
The man made off with cash and reportedly ran across Scotland Road to Hopwood Street in the direction of Vauxhall Road.
No-one was injured during the incident but staff were left shaken.
The offender was described as being in his 30s, of medium build and wearing a jacket and pants. He also had his face covered.
Witness and CCTV enquiries are ongoing and detectives wish to speak to anyone who saw a man matching the description before, during or after this incident, or anyone who saw a man acting suspiciously in the area.
Detective Inspector Jacky Fitzpatrick said: “Robberies such as this can have a lasting effect on the members of staff involved, who are often just local people trying to earn a living. It is despicable to think that anyone could put them through an ordeal like this purely for their own financial gain.
“Thankfully no-one was injured but staff and witnesses have clearly been left extremely shaken.
“I would appeal to anyone with information about this incident to contact us immediately, to help us remove this offender from the streets.
“This is an area that would have been busy with traffic and we are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been passing in their car in the area at the time and may have dashcam footage to get in touch.
“I would urge anyone with any information, however small, to call us as it may be vital for our investigation.”
