Residents of a quiet Southport street are fuming after their road was closed to traffic after a gaping sink hole opened up.
Road workers were forced to close off Salford Road between its junctions with Leamington Eoad and Halifax Road after a sink hole residents describe as ‘massive’ opened up.
A build up of sewer water from a suspected burst pipe has reportedly been blamed.
A neighbourhood spokesperson said “This appears to be another sink hole in a similar position as previous holes that have appeared.
“The subsided area is all fenced off and heavy duty equipment is in attendance but no remedial works had begun this morning.”
