Andy White And Alex Fletcher Sign For Southport FC.
Southport’s Head of Development Mark Wright has this evening confirmed the signings of 24-year-old left back Andy White and 20-year-old central midfielder Alex Fletcher. Both players have joined the club on free transfers.
Wright told southportfc.net: “We’re very excited we’ve been able to sign these two very highly rated prospects. We knew both players were attracting interest from other clubs so we’re very happy that Andy and Alex wanted to be a part of what we’re doing here at Southport.”
Andy White, most recently of Nantwich Town, was named in the Northern Premier League Team of the Year (for the second consecutive season) in an outstanding campaign that saw him make his 200th appearance for Nantwich, netting five goals in the process.
Alex Fletcher joins having spent last season at Newtown in the Welsh Premier League. Having started his youth career at Shrewsbury Town, he has also gained experience at Ross County and Telford United.
On Andy White, Mark Wright said: “Alan Lewer and I both know Andy extremely well, we’ve watched him for some time now so we’re delighted to get the deal done. He can play at left back or left wing back and he’ll bring some real balance to the side.”
Mark Wright says of Alex Fletcher: “We have real high hopes for Alex. He’s an enthusiastic young player and a real prospect.”
