It’s all well and good to support England at the Euro 2020 championship. Still, if you’re more into club football than national football, then you might decide to follow the Everton and Liverpool players at the tournament, rather than — or in addition to — the national side. There’s a long list of players from both sides at the tournament, including, of course, many who will be representing England. Some players, such as Lucas Digne, have a realistic chance of winning the competition. Others, such as Xherdan Shaqiri, have less of a chance; if you’re going to back him to lift the trophy, then do so in spirit only, or you can use a free bet offer.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
Trent nearly didn’t make the England squad, which will be ridiculous to anyone who watches the Liverpool-born player on a regular basis. He can have the odd off game, sure, but for one, who doesn’t? And for two, when he’s on, he’s really on. He’s one of the best strikers of the ball in the Premier League, let alone the England squad. There are some doubts about his defensive abilities, but even they’ve probably been overblown somewhat.
Jordan Henderson
The rise of Jordan Henderson is an incredible story. He went from being written off by virtually everyone (but crucially, not himself) and went onto become one of — if not the — most important players in the Liverpool team. And he has a similar role for England. A natural leader, Henderson will be hoping that his niggling injury clears up to play a role for England at the Euros. When it gets to the business end of the tournament, Jordan’s mentality could be key.
Andy Robertson
Similar to Henderson, Robertson’s story is a great one. He’s beloved at Anfield, where he embodied everything there is to love about Klopp’s style of play, especially during the title-winning campaign. It’s always a part when Scotland are at a major tournament, and this time is no different. He’ll be a key senior member of the squad. As ever, you can expect he’ll be having a great time!
Diogo Jota
Jota did the business for Liverpool virtually every time he played. Indeed, it was a shame he got injured when he did; his absence was clearly felt. Though Cristiano Ronaldo is the main man for Portugal, Jota is more than a second-fiddle player for his country. He proved in the Germany defeat just how much quality he has, setting up one goal and scoring another. Portugal will have ambitions of winning the tournament, and if they do, you know Jota will have played a big role.

Thiago Alcantara
It was a joy to watch Thiago last season. Cool, confident, and classy on the ball, he plays like a true Spanish international, so it’s no surprise to see him in the team. His early performances for Spain at the tournament did not impress the critics, but what you do during the group stages doesn’t matter, provided you get through the group. He’ll show his class at some stage or another.
Xherdan Shaqiri
Though he’s become something of a bit-part player for Liverpool, there’s no doubting the quality that Shaqiri has. And the good news, from a Switzerland perspective at least, is that he has a habit of turning up for the big games. He’s Switzerland’s most important player, and when they need a goal, you can rest assured that they’ll feed the ball to wherever Shaqiri happens to be. He’s one of the best in the world at making something out of nothing.
Neco Williams
Neco Williams has had some good games for Liverpool, but in truth, it’ll be hard for him to crack into the side and build a career at Liverpool. That’s one of the reasons why, if rumours are to be believed, he’s looking to move away from Anfield after the Euro 2020 Championship has finished. He’ll be playing for Wales, and given he’ll get more game time for Wales than he did for Liverpool, this is a perfect opportunity for him to impress would-be suitors.
Harry Wilson
There’s still a lot of hype about Harry Wilson, and it’s not hard to see why. Though he’s now 24, he continues to show glimpses of magic that make anyone who knows anything about football sit up and take notice. As with Williams, his opportunities at Anfield are limited. But it’s a different story for Wales, for whom he is an important player. If Wales are to match their run of Euro 2016, then he’ll need to put in the kind of performances we all know he’s capable of.
Jordan Pickford
Pickford has rightly had his critics in the past. The best way to shut them up once and for all will be to win a major tournament with England. Though there were some initial doubts about who would be the main man between the sticks, Southgate has shown faith in Pickford. You imagine that if Kane can find his shooting boots and Pickford can deliver the level of form we all know he can achieve, then England might go very far indeed.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin
Calvert-Lewin deserved his call up to the England squad and to be picked for the Euro 2020 tournament. He has an excellent season, and Southgate will know that he offers something that no one else in the squad can. He won’t get as many minutes as he does for England, but he’ll have his opportunities as a substitute. He’ll be desperate to get a goal for his country at a major tournament (perhaps even the goal that brings the trophy home?).
Lucas Digne
If England are going to win the tournament, then at some point, they’ll need to stop France. Lucas Digne won’t start too many games for his country, but that’s no shame — after all, there are so many terrific players in the France squad! He may get some minutes, however. Of all the people who might bring a medal back to Merseyside, Digne is the most likely.
